Frequently Asked Questions:

What should I wear on your tours?

For our tours from base camp, we recommend that you bring good hiking boots or shoes that are comfortable, light-weight, and preferably water-proof.  Because of variations in weather patterns that are encountered throught the day in mountainous areas, we suggest that you dress in layers, like an onion!
A perfect ensemble of clothing would include a cotton undershirt, layered with a flannel or wool outer shirt and completed with a lightweight, water-proof outer coat.
Other items of importance may be a pair of binoculars, cameras, mosquito repellant, and a small lightweight pack for extra items or water bottles.

Do we need to make reservations in advance?

We highly recommend booking your tour as far in advance as possible.  Booking early means you get to do the tour you want on the day you'd like.

What is your cancellation policy?

Depending on your group size, we need you to give a minimum of 24 hours notice.  Groups of five or less require 24 hour notice, while groups of 6 or more require at least 48 hours notice.

What happens if it rains?

We go rain or shine.  Guides always provide rain gear for everyone and we have a comfortable dry lodge to relax in afterwards for your added amenity.

Where do tours leave from?

Currently, we start all of our tours from our base camp at the Paystreke Gold Mine, Alaska Forest and Trail's place of business.

How knowledgeable are your guides?

Most of our guides are born and raised Alaskans who are highly familiar with the history, the people, and the places of this area of study.  Our experience in hospitality will further enhance your experience with us.

Where are you located?

We are located about 88 miles south of Anchorage via the Seward and Hope Highways.  Check our map under the contact page for details and directions.

How many people do you take on tour at a time?

Generally, up to 20 people.  However we can accomodate larger groups with advanced notice.

Are these tours accessible to the general public?

All of our tours are operated with exclusive access permitted to privately reserved clientele.  We are a gated facility with privately held tours to enhance our guests' experience!
